Yes it is that time of year again, spring has sprung,
the blossoms are out, the birds are chirping and it is
wedding season for many couples.
For any bride and groom organisation is the key
to a fabulous wedding so this week I am going to list
some helpful hints in the lead up to your special day.
List your priorities and establish a budget that you are
comfortable with and is manageable and STICK TO IT.
In your set budget you must make allowances for deposits
for example with the caterer, the florist, the cake
specialist and the reception venue.
When you come to choosing your flowers if you see
something that takes your fancy in a magazine cut it out
and take it in with you, there’s nothing more
frustrating than having a certain flower in mind and not
having any idea what it is called, You know that flower
with the big white petals with little yellow dots and
shiny leaves.
Also make sure that you or the members of your
bridal party are not allergic to any.
Nothing worse than trying to kiss the bride/groom
and sneezing all over them.
Also keep in mind what flowers are in season if
you have a tight budget.
I remember a family wedding held in Sydney where we
transported the flowers from Albury by car with the air
conditioning full on the whole way, made for a chilly
ride and once at the motel there was a room for
arranging, a room for heating to open the stubborn
tulips and a room for cooling to keep the rest of the
flowers fresh.
Meanwhile the flowers were magnificent on the
day. The
lengths that you go too to keep the bride happy.
Make sure you have a trial run with makeup, facials etc
about a month before.
The last thing the bride needs is to break out
with a horrible allergic reaction to something the
morning of the wedding.
Stick to your normal beauty routine and you
cannot go wrong.
Also test perfume to make sure you agree with it
and it agrees with you.
Good idea for the groom to do the same.
If you intend to handwrite your invitations and
envelopes, order your envelopes to be delivered first so
you can make a start on addressing them.
This can take time as you need to find out
everyone’s correct address.
You can also begin on organising your thankyou
notes so you are not madly looking up addresses again
when you get back from your honeymoon.
Smart thinking.
Keep this list for Christmas time, saves on
looking up those addresses again.
Organise your bucks and hens nights a couple of weeks
prior to the wedding so you are both back to healthy
state come the big day.
Have your bridal gown hanging high so the gown does not
crease at the bottom.
Keep it covered in plastic to prevent dust or
damage and perhaps leave it at your mums’ house to
prevent the temptation of showing it off to visitors.
Hopefully this will put all brides-to-be a little more
at ease about their special day.
This weeks ZIP or ZAP
Have a similar wedding menu to that of your parents
Til next time,
Annie.
