“Sharing”
There is no greater happiness than that of sharing
life
With all its joys and all its cares as loving man
and wife
For love gives life new meaning and has a special
way
Of growing stronger, deeper, with every passing day.
Yes, life is so much happier and brighter when
you’re sharing
The very special joys that come with
loving-giving-caring
So you have been married for umpteen years you have
fifteen children, thirty something grand children, 3
dogs, 2 cars, still a mortgage, barely remember the
Wedding Anniversary and Valentines Day is What???
But you are still very adamant that marriage is
fantastic and you want to renew your wedding vows and
feel that it is appropriate to renew your love and
commitment for one another.
For many people when they actually marry for varying
reasons it is not how they exactly dreamed it would be.
Perhaps short of cash, did not go to plan,
invited those that they had to, the relatives were all
fighting, Uncle Fred got absolutely plastered and fell
into the wedding cake yaddah yaddah yaddah.
So for one reason or another it was a bit of a
catastrophe so they want this renewal of vows to full of
“Oomph” and feeling without Uncle Fred because he has
since joined the Nursing Home with Korsakoff’s Syndrome
also know as wet brain.
I have officiated many of these fabulous dos and I
usually arrange them to flow the same way as a marriage
ceremony.
Much time is spent interviewing the couple and those
that the couple wish to be involved to get a feel for
the couple and their background together over the years.
The only part of the ceremony that needs to be
made clear is that it is a RENEWAL and not a MARRIAGE.
Our wish
This is our wish – may you be strong enough
To shelter love, and keep it safe from harm.
When winds blow high, and roads are steep and rough,
May you protect your love, preserve its charm.
When days are dark, may love be your sure light.
When days are cold, may love be your bright fire,
Your guiding star when Hope is out of sight,
The essence and the sum of your desire.
May love be with you through the flight of years,
Then after storms, there always will be calm.
Though you have cause for heartache and for tears,
Despair lasts not, where love is there for balm.
This be the prayer we breathe for you today:
When you have reached the summit of Life’s hill
May it be possible for you to say
‘Married long years, but we are lovers still’.
